Kubity started as a single app. Over the past 8 years, our company, technology, and commercial offerings have grown and we realize that we have also outgrown our name.

Over the next several months, we will introduce new corporate branding to be clearer about the products that come from us. We have renamed our holding to SPK Technology to further distinguish it from the Kubity app, which will keep its own branding.

This brand change is a way to better communicate our ownership structure to the people and businesses who use our “Powered by SPK Technology” products and services.

Kubity: A Quick History

In early 2012 an urban projects developer and a group of software engineers started work on an ambitious project— find a way to take SketchUp models from a desktop computer to a phone.

That was a crazy idea for the time. The technology to make it happen simply didn’t exist yet. But that didn’t stop us from trying.

With the specifications in place, fifteen engineers were drafted in to fuse several technologies together: 3D design, data compression, decimation and rendering optimization, web and mobile transfer, including the integration of virtual reality headsets.

In 2015, we launched the first Kubity prototype.

And we haven’t stopped since. Every year we invest over €1 million into research and development and proudly file several technology patents.

Meet SPK Technology

Today, SPK Technology claims ownership of two patented 3D engines—Paragone and Etna— that make our products, like Kubity, possible.

In the technology industry, we know that revolutionary ideas drive the next big growth areas and that’s where SPK Technology comes in. SPK is the technology arm of the operation, while Kubity, ArchiKlip, rvt2skp, and 3D2VR are consumer products with commercial offerings.

This opens an exciting new chapter for us—the birth of SPK Technology means we can keep innovating while offering a more focused and individualized approach to our consumer brands.

We are excited about…

  • Being more ambitious with our technology
  • Considering long-term solutions
  • Empowering our developers
  • Making our consumer products better through greater focus

Here’s to a new name, a new chapter and lots of new innovations leading the way!
